Working With Local Numbers
Q. Does my 866/877/8XX number count as a 10-Digit Local Number?
A. No. A toll free number does not count as a 10-Digit local number, however you will be able to continue to receive inbound calls on these numbers under the following conditions:
- That the 866/877/8XX number is assigned only to you. (If someone is calling you on an 800 number plus an extension, your extension number will be discontinued)
- That you have a Local 10-Digit Number on your account as well which will be used for your Caller ID and 911 Emergency Calls
- You have a valid physical address listed on your account
Q. I’m currently using an Extension, what is going to happen to it?
A. You will need to update your account with a physical address and get a 10-digit local number. You’ll want to hand this number out to your friends and family as your new number. On June 30th, calls to Extensions will no longer be allowed.
Q. Will people still be able to call me on my 800/866 number?
A. We encourage you to have your friends and family call your 10-digit local number directly because it will be your primary number on your personal profile. If they need to use the current 800 number, they can provide your 10-digit local number, without the Extension, to the video interpreter.
Q.Can I still make calls through Purple even if I am registered with someone else?
A. Absolutely. We may need to ask you for your 10-digit local number in order to complete your call. We encourage you to create an account to get access to the latest information and applications.
