The correct Caller ID does not show up when using some of the Web CapTel services. It can be a real problem because some people will try to call me back using the incorrect Caller ID information instead of using the phone numbers I gave them. This happened with a dyslexic friend who couldn't or didn't find the time to enter the phone numbers I had given him by email, and it was really annoying that he couldn't figure out how to call me back.

*All* of the relay services should provide the correct caller id information.

The company don't own us. We do whatever we want to do. like for example, we can turn it on or off whenever we want, we can know who is calling from (never know if it is imporant calls). Oh ABSOULTELY!!! we like to have caller ID like other hearing people do. I thought hearing world and deaf/hard of hearing world should have equally but i guess not! They don't own us, WE can do whatever we want to do like hearing people.

Well, be my honest, I do not like caller id for safety reason. I grew up on tty with phone with never had any caller id. When the caller id invented, I had them for a while. I hate it. One reason, caller id, caught who was calling, then hang on me for no reason. Tried to call back and won't pick up. I feel that it was huge hassle if have caller id. My opinion, when you have the address book on your videophone, you should design your own method to add "who" is calling. For example, my friend's number. I added her number and her name on my address book. When she called me, her name will show up. Plain as simple. I never like Caller id. Really. I have cell phone, and I added their name with cell phone number, and they always showed up because I added this method in address book. Why we need caller id? I prefer to make these caller to tell me who they are than figure out who did use the phone, playing the game, etc. I dont like Caller id. I like the way to recieve the number first then find out who this person is calling, then save the number, and the name into the address book. Easier that way, than having caller id. It can lead many false information from caller id. If you want to set up caller id, then we should have a block number *69 to block it. Why not we have blocker on our videophone, you haven't designed one?

Of all questions you have raised, this is the silliest of em all by far!
Your question should be aimed at hear people: "Should Caller ID be discontinued?"
If their response is negative, then it should be a MUST for deaf people.
In other words, deaf people get what hear people get and vice versa!
Savvy?

I never thought about Caller ID since. Second thought about your mention if this is good for deaf, hard of hearing to use it. Is it benefit for them to aware what this Caller ID important to have ? Does this help identify telemarketing whether know or not this call from?
I linked a webstie and read down to about true Caller ID that use by CRS. Read it. I think its benefit between users and others to PROTECT AND SECURITY. I think this would helps to reduce complaints.
